XS650 '70-'79 NEW!

This XS650 was built as a tribute to the Pro Twins racers from the eighties and early nineties – it was a hotly contended Battle of the Twins style race series with many top riders competing, like Jamie James, Kevin Erion, Jimmy Adamo, Randy Renfrow, Doug Polen and Dale Quarterly.

We had this ratty XS650 to start with. We kept the frame and motor, everything else was discarded.

We chose FZ750 running gear for period components. The FZ750 front end was grafted onto the XS650 chassis and we found some nice vintage one piece aluminum clip-ons to complete the front end.

The wider rear wheel required a custom box swingarm, which replaced the spindly stock affair. The FZ750 calipers and slotted discs are a nice upgrade over the XS650 brakes.

To get the right look Airtech designer Kent Riches wanted a long road race style fuel tank and matching seat with large number plates. He opted for a half fairing to show off the motor and exhaust.

Kent sectioned a TZ250 fuel tank making it wider and longer to fit the bigger XS650 frame then cut up a TZ seat and modified it to fit the big loop-style subframe. Large sculpted number plate areas clear the rear shocks perfectly.

Such a nice tail shape. There’s even room for a small taillight if you’re building a street bike!

Note the nice rolled edge on this seat which gives it an awesome finished look.

We selected the upper half of our F1 fairing for this project because it complements the tank and tail and leaves the pretty motor exposed. It has slight hand bulges and of course a bitchin’ 70’s race style.

We’ve listed this bodykit for the 1970-79 XS1, XS2, TX650 and Standard XS650 models. Some of this stuff may fit the 80-85 Special models but the subframe is different on those years.
